How to adopt
Mirela’s dogs find their families through two partner associations: Tierschutzgruppe Herzensmenschen e. V. in Germany and Skayla Dog Rescue in Sweden. Both know the dogs by name, both have stood in the yard in Movilița themselves. Start with whichever one is closer to you.
Germany
Tierschutzgruppe Herzensmenschen e. V.
Tierschutzgruppe Herzensmenschen e. V. is a German animal welfare group dedicated to sustainable animal protection in Romania: castration campaigns, education work and reliable structures on the ground. Together with their local partners they care for around 400 dogs and cats.
Their dogs are placed exclusively through foster homes in Germany. The animals have time to arrive and settle, you can get to know them properly, and each one finds a home that truly fits, for a whole dog's life.

Sweden
Skayla Dog Rescue
Skayla Dog Rescue is a non-profit in Sweden. Nicholas and Emelie founded it — they also run the dog school Leonila DogCare — and Emelie Wendel and Anna Johansson work alongside them. In 2021 they became close friends of Mirela and Dragoș, went to Romania to see the streets and the shelter with their own eyes, and have been finding Swedish families for the dogs from here ever since.
Their website keeps two lists side by side: dogs waiting in Sweden, and dogs waiting in Romania. The Romanian list is Mirela’s dogs. Every dog they take on gets training and rehabilitation first, and Skayla matches dog and family carefully instead of handing a dog to whoever asks first.

How adopting through Sweden works
- Read the adoption information on their site, and look through the dogs waiting in Romania.
- Send them an email with your name, address and phone number, and as full a description as you can of yourself, your household, your everyday life and any other animals.
- They come back to you with more questions and look for the dog that fits the life you described.
- When you collect your dog you sign the adoption contract and receive an information sheet for the first weeks, together with the dog’s papers and passport.
- Afterwards they stay in touch, to hear how it is going and to answer whatever comes up.

Not ready to adopt yet?
Skayla is always looking for foster homes. You take a dog in for as long as it needs a place, treat it as your own and cover its food; the association stays the legal owner and pays the insurance. Every foster home frees up a place for the next dog.

The practical part
Adopting is a commitment for many years. The partner association handles the whole process with you, from the first conversation to the home check, and every dog travels vaccinated, chipped, sterilized and with a passport.
